What Is The Purpose?
From the moment a child is born, speculations are made about
what they will grow up to look like, what they will like to do, what kind of
personality they will have, what kind job they will do, who they will marry,
and so on. There are questions that are always asked. Like why are we
on this earth? What is it that we’re meant to do with the time that we’ve been
given? And how are we to fulfil those things? For some, these questions keep them up at night. Wondering
if what they did with their day will add up to anything. Wondering if the path
they are on is even the right one. You know, the kind of questions that lead to
a mid-life crisis.
We innately assume that there has to be a reason for
existence. It just makes sense. So we
live our lives day by day making choices, choosing paths that will give us
clues as to whether we’re on the right path or not. Kind of like a treasure
hunt.Well, it dawned on me that we were created to live for
eternity. And that earth is merely a pit stop on our never ending journey.
Apostle James said that we are merely a puff of smoke, which appears for a
moment and then disappears (James 4:14). Your life on earth is 5 seconds long
compared to eternity. But don’t get me wrong, those 5 seconds count!
Let’s go all the way back to before the earth was created.
The Bible says that before the earth was made, God had already decided that He
wanted to make us His sons and daughters (Ephesians 1:4-5). So God being an
eternal God, an everlasting God, this means that He created us with the intention
of spending eternity with us. What does that mean? It means that when He
created us He wanted for us to live in His love and presence all the days of
our lives on earth and for all of eternity.
Now to bring it back to purpose and why I have started this
blog. Every human being that walks this earth, regardless of whether they know
God or not. Everyone feels that their life must be for a reason, that they have
a mission to complete before their life ends. My purpose for eternity is to be
with my loving Father. But on this earth I will use the gifts and talents that
my Lord has given me to bring glory and honour to His name. So I invite you on
this journey with me as I grip firmly onto my purpose, and hopefully it’ll
inspire you to do the same.
